It's Release Day!

Heart pounding, I checked my teeth and smiled nervously one more time in the hotel room mirror.

"Ready?" Kendra asked, her face appearing behind my reflection. Nodding, I grabbed the handles of the baby stroller that held my 6-month-old daughter and exited the hotel room. Walking into the glass elevator and zooming downstairs had never felt more like a plunge into the unknown.

Steadying my nerves, I dropped off Ashlyn with a friend and clutched the book proposal we'd spent hours perfecting as we walked into the Starbucks located on the second level of the hotel.

"Hi, I'm Kara," a woman said, standing up. Smiling, she shook our hands, then we sat down to talk about writing, kindness, and the possibility of reimagining our proposed book as a 365-day devotional.

Fast-forward exactly two years and one day, and it's release day for The One Year Daily Acts of Kindness Devotional. This book on kindness is a dream fulfilled for the three of us. We never could have imagined that our 25 days of pre-Christmas kindness (known to many readers as our Advent Acts of Kindness) would evolve into a year-long kindness adventure that would inspire 365 devotionals. Each devotional includes a Bible verse, inspirational story, and suggested act of kindness. The devotional is meant to be a family-friendly and accessible, an encouraging read that helps you to engage with others. We'd love for you to start small, in the spaces and places you're already in, and then expand outward to your community and the world beyond.

Curious about what exactly the book contains? Here's a sneak peek:
Our world desperately needs more kindness. Whether it’s on social media, in the news, or between your arguing kids it can seem like conflict and disconnection are everywhere. But imagine how much better life would be if we got intentional about being kind!

This year, embark on a journey to make kindness a part of your life, home, and soul. In The One Year Daily Acts of Kindness Devotional, you’ll find Scripture passages and inspirational personal stories about why God calls us to show kindness, what it means to live a life of generosity, and how you can incorporate kindness into your everyday routine (and teach it to your kids) with tons of simple, easy-to-do ideas.

Show your world the kind of love that is possible with daily acts of kindness that will change your heart, inspire your family, and draw you closer to God.
